Dr. Holcomb is trained, skilled and qualified to manage and treat facial trauma. There are a number of possible causes of facial trauma: motor vehicle accidents, assault, accidental fall, sport and recreational related injuries, and injuries in the work place among others. These types of injuries can range from injuries of the teeth to extremely severe injuries of the skin and bones of the face. Typically, facial injuries are classified as either soft tissue (skin and gums) or bony injuries (fractures). Many traumatic injuries can usually be treated in the office with sedation. The proper treatment of facial injuries is the realm of oral and maxillofacial surgeons. They are well versed in emergency care, acute treatment and long-term reconstruction and rehabilitation of the patient.
